Behavior is our medium
Interaction Designer Robert Fabricant gave a talk back in 2009 at the 2009 IxDA conference that still covers a hot topic: in his talk he makes the assertion interaction designers are almost exclusively concerned with shaping behavior.
We design to change, guide, support, elicit, constrict, and control behavior. The products and screens we create are about getting others to do something, using or buying or donating or otherwise taking some real-world action.
